Protect Your Investment: Prepare Your Home for Winter

img_2003

Autumn is officially underway and it is time to prepare your home for the upcoming winter months.  Properly winterizing your home is sure to be a worthy investment as it may reduce the risk of home issues later.

Common ways to protect your home and its value include:

  • Check the heating system by consulting with a licensed professional to ensure heat is being distributed evenly and all vents are open.
  • Secure windows and doors properly using caulking or weather-stripping materials to assist with reducing heating costs.
  • Inspect the roof for cracks or signs of damaged shingles, as well as cracked seals around the chimney and vents, so they can be repaired to avoid future water damage. Also, a professional inspection of the chimney will ensure it is safe for use to provide cozy fires all season.
  • Clean all gutters and remove leaves and other debris as water can collect and cause potential roof and siding damage.
  • Turn off all exterior faucets to avoid pipes freezing by disconnecting all garden hoses and draining any remaining water from the hose and faucet.

Protect your investment – your home might be worth more than you think.  Jean Groesbeck & Associates can help with all of your home buying and selling needs, in addition to accurately determining your home’s value.

Coldwell Banker CEO Jim Gillespie was named in the top 10 more admired CEO!

Parsippany, N.J. (March 20, 2012) – A recent survey from online career community CareerBliss identifies Coldwell Banker Real Estate Chief Executive Officer, Jim Gillespie, as one of the 10 most admired CEOs across 3,400 companies. Gillespie was chosen from an analysis of more than 10,000 respondents who graded vision and leadership.

Gillespie was the only representative from the real estate industry on the top 10 list. He was joined in the top 10 list by CEOs from companies such as Amazon, FedEx and Qualcomm.

“I think many of us get into real estate because we feel that we have a higher calling to help people live the Dream of Homeownership and Jim Gillespie has always been an inspiration for agents like me,” said Jessica Edwards, Coldwell Banker Real Estate Consumer Specialist, and an agent in Wilmington, N.C.

“I’ve worked in different positions in the Coldwell Banker brand for 35 years in real estate, and began as an agent myself,” said Gillespie. “Receiving an honor like this, from our network of trusted agents and brokers across the globe, humbles me because I have stood in their shoes, and it motivates me to do the best job that I possibly can.”

Reviews of Coldwell Banker Real Estate also ranked the brand above the real estate industry average in the following key areas:
• Growth opportunities
• Work-life balance
• Career advancement
• Senior management
• Overall ranking

“CEOs should be honored to be recognized as a CareerBliss Happiest CEO,” said Heidi Golledge, CEO and co-founder of CareerBliss. “This data is derived from thousands of independent reviews on CEOs and their leadership and vision for their company. Jim Gillespie is hailed as a wise and true business leader who is dedicated to a common vision that produces lasting results and opportunities.”

COLDWELL BANKER REAL ESTATE LLC RECEIVES 2011 WEBBY AWARDS

The Only National Real Estate Brand Honored in Website Real Estate Category

PARSIPPANY, N.J. (April 15, 2011) –  The Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC website, coldwellbanker.com, has been named a 2011 Official Honoree of The Webby Awards, the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. The website, developed in partnership with FD kinesis and Bootstrap Software, was recognized as the only national real estate brand in the Website Real Estate category.

In its 15th year, the Webby Awards is now well-established as one of the Internet’s most respected symbols of success, receiving nearly 10,000 entries from 60 countries worldwide.

“We work tirelessly on coldwellbanker.com to keep it an intuitive, informative and enjoyable experience for everyone, and we believe that by providing the right kinds of tools and technology, our consumers can make smarter decisions,” says Helen Galasso, vice president of platform development and eBusiness, Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC.  “We’re proud of this distinction because it is recognition of our longstanding tradition of innovation and leadership within the real estate industry.”

\Winners were chosen by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization whose members include director Darren Aronofsky, Martha Stewart, Huffington Post Media Group President Arianna Huffington, Twitter Co-Founder Biz Stone, musician David Bowie, and Internet co-creator Vint Cerf, Virgin Group Chairman Richard Branson, and R/GA Chairman and CEO Bob Greenberg.

Winners in the website category were selected based on the following criteria: content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity and overall experience.

Highlights of the Coldwell Banker website include:

  • BlueScapesm — Unique from other real estate search platforms, BlueScape is an entirely visually-driven way to help “dreamers” find just that – the home of their dreams.  Instead of limiting search options to zip code or the number of bedrooms, users begin the search by rating abstract images with a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” from landscape scenery to images of snow mobiles and taxi cabs. At any time, they can submit a query and the BlueScapesm technology will identify homes that are a good fit.
  • Lifestyle Search – Using an intuitive tool bar, consumers can weigh lifestyle factors such as “fun and trendy” against mass transit options, art and music, and even access to golf courses nearby.
  • Affordability Radar — In any search, a consumer can set budget parameters through the radar on the properties that are shown.  Based on the person’s current monthly expenses, the radar will display the estimated monthly cost of each property, and how it fits into that person’s current expenses each month.
