Skagit County Dash & Splash Polar Plunge March 11

The Anacortes Police Department will host the Skagit County Dash & Splash event, formerly known as the Anacortes Polar Plunge for Special Olympics, on March 11 at Seafarers Park.

In addition to the Polar Plunge, there will be a 5k Fun Run and money raised from the fun run will be donated to Skagit Animals in Need (SAIN) in memory of Deputy Anne Jackson of the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office, who was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 2, 2008.

The Polar Plunge is one of the most popular events included in the Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraising campaign.  The Polar Plunge is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to support local Special Olympics athletes by collecting pledges and plunging into frigid waters.

Special Olympics Washington provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in an Olympic setting for all individuals with intellectual disabilities who wish to participate. With the support of events like these, athletes are able to compete without cost to themselves or their families.
