2017 Anacortes Vintage Market: “Falliday” Oct. 20-21

Sassy Frass Company will present the 2017 Anacortes Vintage Market on Friday, October 20, and Saturday, October 21. “Falliday” is this season’s event theme and it will take place at the Port Transit Event Center at 100 Commercial Ave. in Anacortes.
Tickets are available now and are limited for Friday’s VIP event from 6 to 9 p.m. for $20, which also includes admission cost for Saturday. To attend Saturday only, tickets are $7 and the event is from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Vendors will be stocked each day with home and garden décor, French antiques, junk salvage, collectibles and more!
A canned good drive will also take place both days, and more information about the event and ticket information can be found online HERE.

Free State Park Day: Sept. 30

Deception Pass and other state parks throughout Washington will allow entrance without a Discover Pass on Saturday, September 30, in recognition of National Public Lands Day.

Additional free days this year are Nov. 11 and Nov. 24.

The Discover Pass is regularly $30 for an annual pass and $10 for a day pass and is required for vehicle access to state recreation lands managed by Washington State Parks, the state Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Natural Resources.

Please note, free days apply only to day use (not overnight stays or rented facilities). A Discover Pass will still be required on these days to access lands managed by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Anacortes Shipwreck Day: Sat., July 15

Organized by the Fidalgo Rotary Club, this year’s Anacortes Shipwreck Day will be held Saturday, July 15, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., however some vendors or businesses will be open earlier.

More than 200 vendors and businesses will have items for sale throughout the day along Commercial Avenue and the surrounding side streets.

Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor will host a public open house on Saturday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The following events and activities will take place throughout the day:

  • Displays and demonstrations of NAS Whidbey Island Aircraft, which may include the EA-18G Growler, P3-C Orion, P-8A Poseidon, MH-60S Knighthawk, and the C-40A Clipper

Anacortes Waterfront Festival June 3-4

The annual Anacortes Waterfront Festival will take place Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, at Cap Sante Marina, located at 1019 Q Avenue.

This year’s event will include an open-air car show, food vendors, arts and craft booths, children’s activities, giant slides, water balls, dinners and dances, live music and entertainment, a wine and beer garden, and more.

The festival hours are Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

50th Anniversary Home & Boat Tour

On Saturday, May 20, tour unique homes and boats throughout historic Anacortes between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The tour will feature five homes, including a tiny home from Seattle, as well as boats in the marina. The W.T. Preston snagboat and the Maritime Heritage Center will also be part of the tour.

Advance tickets are $20 and are available at the Visitor Information Center, 819 Commercial Ave., or online at brownpapertickets.com/event/2714864. Tickets will also be available at the Farmers Market when it is open on Saturdays.

On the day of the event, tickets can be purchased at the Croatian Cultural Center, 805 5th St., or at each venue.

The event is sponsored by the Dr. Samuel G. Brooks Guild of Anacortes, and all proceeds benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital uncompensated care.

City of Anacortes Residential Spring Clean Up May 13

From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, the City of Anacortes will hold a Residential Spring Clean Up at its Operations Facility located at D Avenue and 37th Street.

Get your household cleaning done and bring your residential garbage and yard waste at no charge!

The gate to the facility will close promptly at 12 p.m. so it is advised to arrive early to ensure you can drop off your items and two forms of ID are required.
